They don’t care about donor or staff safety, just who they can push in and out of the door once they’re done taking their blood. Our California CPR/ AED classes combines a new, game-changing educational model with the latest science-based advancements in lifesaving care. Some days it’s easy to forget because of how the Red Cross treats us like an assembly line and their blood as just a product instead of something that will help people. I’ve been cursed at and had a donor throw things at me and my coworkers. Most donors are wonderful, but with frustrations growing about understaffing and even if they are deferred sometimes they become very angry and hard to deal with. I do love talking to people and learning about them while they donate. The only pros are some very kind donors and knowing you’re helping save lives. We have a Union but they do anything they can to go against contract and hope we won’t notice. We cannot retain staff because of management and how the company keeps trying to screw us over on big and little things- any way they can try to scrape change from our pockets. If we aren’t understaffed we are made to work with incompetent new hires who should’ve never been hired in the first place and don’t retain information about our processes or donation safety. Now we are so understaffed that every day is a nightmare. Supportive coworkers, we were staffed well, great benefits. I’ve worked here for several years and when I first started it was a pretty great place to work. ![]() ![]() I was excited when I first got the job offer because I wanted to help save lives and I was excited to learn something new. ![]()
